Livingston Parish, LA — EA Softball, one of the region’s fastest-growing youth fastpitch programs, has officially announced tryouts for its newest roster: EA Softball 12U. Tryouts will be held July 27, 2025 in the Livingston/Hammond area, and are open to athletes born between September 2012 and August 2014.
The addition of a 12U team continues EA’s strategic expansion, which now includes a complete developmental pathway from 10U to 14U and beyond. EA Softball, operated under Elite Athletics Sports Academy LLC, is widely recognized for its high expectations, experienced coaching, and player-first culture.
“This age group is where everything starts to click,” said Brian Ford, Director of EA Softball. “By 12U, players have some experience, and now it’s time to refine that with structure, pace, and accountability. This team will be coached to develop—not just play.”
Who Should Try Out for EA 12U?
EA Softball is seeking competitive athletes who are currently training in pitching, catching, or utility roles, and who have previous experience in travel ball, advanced recreational leagues, or all-star teams.
Tryouts are open to athletes with birth dates between Sept 2012 and Aug 2014, and will focus on athleticism, game IQ, attitude, and positional flexibility. The roster will be limited to 11 players, including 3 pitchers and 2 catchers, to ensure meaningful development and playing time.
“We want kids who want to grow,” said Coach Jonathan Seal, Coach at EA Softball. “If you’re showing up to lessons, working outside of practice, and you’ve got that edge—we’ll build the rest.”

- Coaching Staff: 20+ years of combined experience at the youth and travel levels

The 12U team will be a key part of EA Softball’s multi-level program that prepares athletes for long-term success through structured, age-appropriate instruction, regular tournament play, and culture-driven coaching.
EA Softball focuses on teaching game situations, communication, and leadership—critical skills that go beyond raw talent. The coaching staff works hands-on with players to develop individual mechanics, positional awareness, and a high softball IQ.
“At this age, reps aren’t enough,” Ford explained. “You need context. You need purpose. That’s what we give these athletes—real instruction, real competition, and real preparation for what’s next.”
The team will play a full season of local and regional tournaments, balancing competition with steady player development. Every athlete will be challenged to improve and supported in their growth, regardless of where they start.

“We’re not here for trophies—we’re here to build,” said Seal. “If the athlete and the family buy in, what we’re doing at EA Softball changes the game. And it lasts a lot longer than the tournament.”

EA Softball’s results speak for themselves. From rising travel athletes to collegiate-bound players, the program has consistently produced confident, skilled, high-character young women who compete with pride.
One shining example is Brilee Ford, an EA Softball alum who delivered a walk-off single this May to clinch Southeastern Louisiana University’s second consecutive Southland Conference Championship. Her performance sent SLU back to the NCAA tournament and showcased exactly what EA stands for: composure, confidence, and commitment in high-pressure moments.
“We’ve seen what this kind of development can lead to,” said Ford. “Brilee’s moment didn’t start at SLU. It started right here, at 12U—when she decided to outwork everyone else and trust the process.”
