July 10, 2025 – Two of MTS Records’ most acclaimed independent artists, Pam Ross and Tim Tye of Midnight Sky, have earned major recognition at the 2025 Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA), solidifying their rising influence within the Americana and singer-songwriter scenes. The nominations were announced in late June, and the ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 30th at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Singer-songwriter Pam Ross—a North Carolina-based artist originally from Houston, Texas—received a nomination in the Singer-Songwriter category. Her innovative blend of Americana, country rock, and roots music, a style she aptly calls “PamMusic,” has helped her stand out in a crowded independent landscape. Known for her emotionally direct lyrics and energetic live shows, Ross has built a loyal fanbase through a steady stream of radio-charting singles and a strong presence on streaming platforms.
Her recent releases, including “Fire in the Hole,” “Two Shots of Tequila,” and “Tonight” showcase Ross’s ability to balance lyrical vulnerability with an unmistakable sense of self-possession. Drawing influence from artists like Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile, and Lucinda Williams, Ross continues to expand her sonic range while staying true to her narrative-driven songwriting. Her HIMA nomination underscores a year of major growth and industry recognition for the independent artist.
Joining Ross in this year’s nominee list is Tim Tye, the creative force behind the Americana-country project Midnight Sky. Tye was nominated in the Lyrics/Lyricist category for his moving single “A Few Good Years.” A longtime musician and former attorney based in Ohio, Tye has carved out a late-career musical path rooted in timeless storytelling, reflective lyricism, and a deep appreciation for traditional American songwriting.
“A Few Good Years” is a contemplative ballad that touches on themes of gratitude, nostalgia, and the ephemeral nature of life’s golden moments. The nomination recognizes Tye’s talent for crafting introspective lyrics that speak to universal experiences, while still remaining personal and specific.
Both artists are signed to MTS Records, a U.S.-based independent label led by industry veteran Michael Stover. Known for championing genre-defying artists and developing talent outside of the traditional mainstream, MTS has guided multiple acts to international airplay and digital chart success.
The Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA), now in its third year, is an offshoot of the long-established Hollywood Music in Media Awards. With a mission to spotlight innovation and excellence across independent music, HIMA provides a platform for emerging voices in over 30 genres and creative disciplines.
“Having Pam and Tim nominated at this level is a testament to the depth and authenticity of their work,” said Stover. “They’re both passionate storytellers who bring heart and conviction to every song. We’re proud to have them represent the MTS family on such a prominent stage.”
The 2025 HIMA Awards will be presented live in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 30th, with nominees and guests from around the world expected to attend.
As the countdown to the 2025 HIMA Awards continues, the nominations for Pam Ross and Tim Tye serve as a powerful reminder of the vital role independent artists play in shaping the modern music landscape. Unbound by convention and driven by passion, both artists have cultivated deeply personal, resonant catalogs that speak directly to listeners seeking authenticity. Whether through Ross’s fearless storytelling or Tye’s poetic reflection, their work exemplifies the spirit of independent music. With the spotlight now shining a little brighter, fans and industry insiders alike will be watching closely as these two talented voices step onto the HIMA stage. Their nominations mark not just artistic milestones, but a celebration of perseverance, originality, and independent creative vision.
