Farm Tough Meets Field Fierce - Olivia Wilson Joins the Louisiana Hornets 14U Team

Hammond, LA — The Louisiana Hornets 14U softball team is thrilled to announce the addition of Olivia Wilson, a 12-year-old outfielder whose passion for the game is matched only by her farm-bred work ethic and competitive spirit. Donning jersey #19, Olivia joins the Hornets 14U – Seal team as its newest force in the outfield.

A resident of rural Louisiana, Olivia brings a unique blend of strength, determination, and leadership to the field. As the oldest of seven siblings, she has learned from an early age how to lead by example—lessons she now carries into every practice and game.

“When we talk about heart, hustle, and humility—Olivia checks all the boxes,” said Head Coach Jonathan Seal. “You don’t often see a kid with that kind of toughness and maturity at 12 years old. She’s calm under pressure, coachable, and always looking for ways to make the team better.”

Off the field, Olivia spends her days helping care for her family’s animals and taking pride in the responsibilities that come with growing up on a farm. Her hobbies include hunting, especially for deer, and caring for her dogs—interests that have instilled in her patience, focus, and discipline. It’s a lifestyle that’s helped shape her into the gritty, resilient athlete she is today.

“She’s as grounded as they come,” said Assistant Coach Tommy Spencer Jr.. “Whether she’s tracking down a fly ball or hauling feed for animals at home, she puts in the work without complaint. That kind of mindset translates to success—not just in softball, but in life.”

On the field, Olivia bats and throws right-handed and plays the outfield with a high IQ and fearless energy. Her ability to read the ball off the bat, cover ground quickly, and make smart plays has already impressed her coaches and teammates alike. She’s been described as instinctive, reliable, and unshaken, even in high-pressure situations.

“From the first time we saw her shagging balls in the outfield, we knew she had something special,” added Coach Seal. “She takes great angles, she’s vocal, and she’s not afraid to go all out to make a play.”

At the plate, Olivia brings a steady and improving bat. Her swing mechanics are fundamentally sound, and she’s quick to adjust—qualities that will only grow stronger with continued coaching and experience at the travel ball level. With time, the Hornets coaching staff believes Olivia has the potential to become a dependable contributor in clutch situations.

“She’s got raw ability, but more importantly, she’s got that spark,” Coach Spencer added. “She listens, she asks questions, and she’s always locked in. That kind of attitude builds confidence at the plate and in the dugout.”

Beyond her skills, Olivia has already made a mark with her teammates thanks to her encouraging nature, strong values, and willingness to support others. She understands that team success is rooted in trust and communication—qualities she’s honed by helping care for her large family.

“She’s the kind of player who leads without even trying,” said Coach Seal. “She lifts people up and leads by example. And those are the players that help shape a team culture.”

The Louisiana Hornets are widely recognized for their commitment to building well-rounded athletes. The program emphasizes discipline, integrity, and community alongside athletic excellence. Olivia Wilson is a natural fit for this philosophy, combining her backcountry roots with big-league ambition.

As the Hornets 14U team prepares for an action-packed season of tournament play, Olivia is expected to contribute immediately on defense and continue developing her offensive game. Fans and families will no doubt be watching #19 as she brings her signature blend of toughness, positivity, and drive to every inning.

“There’s no ceiling for a kid like Olivia,” said Coach Spencer. “With the right reps and encouragement, she’s going to surprise a lot of people.”

“Louisiana softball is lucky to have players like Olivia Wilson,” added Coach Seal. “She’s the kind of athlete that makes you excited to show up and coach every day.”

Welcome to the Hive, Olivia. We’re proud to have you wearing the Hornets jersey.
