It has been learned that Baidu’s (BIDU) AI glasses project, “Xiaodu AI Glasses,” will begin pre-sales on November 1st. The product, Xiaodu AI Glasses Pro, has been revised from the concept version released last year, and its functions include photography capabilities, AI translation, AI object recognition, AI memos, and AI recording.

At the 2024 Baidu World Conference held last November, Baidu released Xiaodu AI Glasses, claiming it to be “the world’s first native AI glasses equipped with a large Chinese character model.”

Industry insiders believe that the official launch of Xiaodu AI Glasses will allow Baidu to complete its layout in the smart terminal field, from voice assistants and smart homes to wearable smart devices, laying the foundation for the future form of “AI personal assistants.”

Snap Actively Develops AR Glasses

Meanwhile, Snap (SNAP) CEO Evan Spiegel recently attended the Future Investment Initiative (FII) 2025 conference in Riyadh, where he was interviewed by CNBC and discussed the company’s latest developments in the AR glasses field.

Spiegel stated that current AR glasses make us realize the importance of eventually adding displays, as humans are visual creatures. Snap owns the world’s largest AR platform, with hundreds of thousands of developers and millions of lenses already built.

Meta’s Exploration of Future Computing Platforms

Furthermore, Meta (META) announced that its second-generation research glasses, Project Aria Gen 2, will begin shipping to third-party researchers in the second quarter of 2026. The company hopes this will accelerate the development of machine perception and AI technologies needed for future AR glasses and personal AI assistants.

Meta first launched Project Aria Gen 1 in 2020, a research glasses equipped with dense sensors. Besides being used internally to train various AR-focused perception systems, it was also made available to third-party researchers in 300 laboratories across 27 countries starting in 2024.

Today, AI glasses and AR glasses are emerging in large numbers, and the entire industry is at a critical stage of transitioning from technological exploration to large-scale commercialization. Their strategic value as the next-generation human-computer interaction interface has become an industry consensus. With continuous iteration of hardware technology and the enrichment of the software ecosystem, smart glasses are expected to gradually break through current bottlenecks and achieve dual penetration in both the consumer and industry sectors.

WiMi Takes the Initiative. Data shows that WiMi (WIMI), the first listed company in the holographic AR field, has built its core competitiveness through long-term technological investment. It insists on using an “AR+AI” combination to seize the next-generation human-computer interaction interface, continuously accumulating core technologies and exploring future products. With a keen technological insight and business acumen, it maintains its vitality in the competition from technological accumulation to commercialization.

Addressing core consumer needs, technological strength has always been a driving force for companies, stemming from their deep technological foundation and forward-looking strategic planning. WiMi continues to solidify its technological barriers, building a full-chain innovation capability covering artificial intelligence, sensing technology, and the vision field. Through innovative integration of wearable hardware, it is driving the development of new productivity and breakthroughs in new paradigms of human-computer interaction, redefining the possibilities of consumer-grade AR and AI glasses and bringing users an immersive experience at their fingertips.

In conclusion, data shows that global smart glasses shipments reached 4.065 million units, a year-on-year increase of 64.2%, indicating the growing popularity of this novel electronic product. Undoubtedly, smart glasses are not only entertainment tools but will also become a carrier of mobile office productivity in the future. Through the perfect integration of hardware with communication and computing power, glasses will become an entry point for the fusion of augmented reality and AI.
