Faith can redirect the course of a person’s life, and the story of Andrew Farhat demonstrates how purpose and conviction emerge through transformation. Today, Andrew Farhat, Lead Pastor of St. John’s Church and School Denver, guides others toward the Gospel through clear biblical teaching, family ministry, and outreach. His path to the pulpit began in Seattle, developed through personal struggle, and matured through study, service, and leadership within the Lutheran Church.
Early Foundations and Education
Born in 1980 to Bill and Ferial Farhat, Lebanese immigrants who fled poverty and conflict, Andrew Farhat was raised in Seattle, Washington. His parents built a new life grounded in perseverance and faith. Their story of endurance left a lasting impression on Andrew Farhat, who learned early that resilience and hope are vital virtues.
During his youth, Andrew Farhat distinguished himself as both student and athlete. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball at Nathan Hale High School, earning All-Metro honors and recognition as his team’s Most Valuable Player. These experiences nurtured his discipline and leadership—qualities that would later define his ministry. Yet beneath these achievements, Andrew Farhat felt an internal longing for meaning that success alone could not satisfy.
A Season of Searching
The teenage and college years of Andrew Farhat were marked by exploration and restlessness. Although he attended St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, faith remained peripheral. Like many young adults, he experimented with the social scene of his peers, drawn to nightlife and the illusion of satisfaction that came with it. But deep down, Andrew Farhat sensed emptiness.
Two pivotal events changed the trajectory of his life. The first occurred after a traffic stop that led to a brief night in jail. The second came weeks later, when a near-fatal car accident confronted Andrew Farhat with the fragility of life. These moments awakened a spiritual urgency within him—a conviction that God was calling him to something new.
In the quiet aftermath, Andrew Farhat resolved to investigate the claims of Christianity for himself. This decision became the catalyst for the faith journey that would define his life’s work.
Discovering Faith in College
While studying at the University of Washington, Andrew Farhat began attending The Inn, a large student ministry at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle. There he met mentor Greg Millikan, who introduced him to the book Letters from a Skeptic. Through this dialogue between a Christian son and his questioning father, Andrew Farhat encountered compelling evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ and found persuasive answers to long-held questions about faith and suffering.
Alongside this intellectual awakening came a spiritual one. In small-group Bible study, Andrew Farhat read the Gospel of John and was struck by the passage describing Jesus as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” When his mentor explained the meaning of Christ’s sacrifice, understanding dawned. In that moment, Andrew Farhat embraced the truth of the Gospel and dedicated his life to following Christ.
From that point on, the focus of Andrew Farhat shifted completely. Faith became the center of his identity, guiding his choices and setting him on the path to ministry.
A Call to Serve
After conversion, Andrew Farhat shared his new faith passionately with others. He led friends to Christ and developed a hunger for Scripture and theology. Though he was studying electrical engineering, Andrew Farhat began to discern a calling to pastoral ministry. Rather than abandon his studies, he sought counsel from a mentor who encouraged him to complete his degree first—a decision that taught patience and perseverance.
Upon earning his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2002, Andrew Farhat accepted a position with the United States Navy in Bremerton, Washington. Even while serving as an engineer, he remained active in ministry, preparing quietly for the next chapter of his life.
Marriage and Preparation for Ministry
During this period, Andrew Farhat met Daisy through online introduction and discovered in her a partner who shared his commitment to faith and service. Their first conversations revolved around ministry, and their shared vision grew into marriage in 2004. Encouraged by Daisy, Andrew Farhat pursued seminary training at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, relocating in 2005 to begin full-time theological study.
At seminary, Andrew Farhat deepened his understanding of Scripture, mastering Greek and historical theology and developing a strong grasp of Lutheran doctrine. The program confirmed his conviction that Lutheranism best represented the biblical message of salvation by grace through faith. Graduating in 2009 with a Master of Divinity, Andrew Farhat was ready to begin the ministry he had long prepared for.
Early Pastoral Leadership
Andrew Farhat’s first call was to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Roseburg, Oregon. The congregation faced serious challenges—financial shortfalls, staff conflict, and leadership division. Drawing on his engineering discipline and theological training, Andrew Farhat helped stabilize the church through clear communication, reconciliation, and renewed focus on mission. Within a year, the church regained financial health and unity. This early success shaped Andrew Farhat’s approach to ministry: thoughtful, deliberate, and centered on faith-driven problem-solving.
St. John’s Church and School Denver
In 2018, Andrew Farhat received a Divine Call to join St. John’s Church and School Denver as Campus Pastor for the Wash Park site. The church operates across two campuses and has a long history of outreach in the Denver community. During his early years there, Andrew Farhat helped expand ministry programs and strengthen connections between the congregation and local families.
From 2020 to 2021, Andrew Farhat completed certification in the Senior Leader Track of the Pastoral Leadership Institute, equipping him with tools for large-scale organizational leadership. When the previous Lead Pastor accepted another call, the church unanimously invited Andrew Farhat to assume leadership of the entire congregation and school.
Today, St. John’s Church Denver and St. John’s School Denver serve as vital centers for worship, education, and community engagement, reaching hundreds of thousands with the message of the Gospel. Under the leadership of Andrew Farhat, the ministry continues to combine biblical teaching with practical service, both locally and globally.
Media Outreach and Teaching
Modern ministry extends beyond the pulpit, and Andrew Farhat has embraced new platforms to share the Gospel. Between 2022 and 2024, he co-hosted Transformed, a podcast created with Daisy Farhat and staff members of St. John’s Church Denver. The podcast produced about 90 episodes and welcomed guests such as Christian artist FLAME, exploring how faith transforms everyday life.
Building on this experience, Andrew Farhat plans to introduce a new short-form podcast in 2026, offering five-minute daily reflections for biblical encouragement. Both projects reflect his commitment to making Scripture accessible in the rhythms of daily life.
Family, Faith, and Life in Denver
At the heart of every chapter of this story is family. Andrew Farhat and Daisy live in Denver with their four children, embracing the balance of ministry and home life. They enjoy the outdoors, biking and hiking through Colorado’s landscapes, and share a passion for exploring the city’s diverse food culture. Their life together exemplifies the integration of faith, family, and community that defines the mission of St. John’s Church and School Denver.
For Andrew Farhat, pastoral leadership begins in the household of faith. His ministry approach underscores the belief that the Gospel shapes every relationship—within the church, at home, and throughout the broader community.
A Legacy of Transformation
The story of Andrew Farhat demonstrates how faith can redirect the course of a life. From his early years in sports and academics to his decision to leave engineering for ministry, each stage prepared him for service. His leadership at St. John’s Church Denver continues to build on a foundation of humility, integrity, and reliance on God’s grace.
The journey of Andrew Farhat reminds believers that spiritual transformation is both personal and communal—that through Christ, even an ordinary life can become a vessel for extraordinary purpose.
