The October 2 soirée will bring together designers, creatives, cultural leaders and supporters to celebrate two decades of Brooklyn fashion and look toward the future
BROOKLYN, NY — August 2026 — Fashion Week Brooklyn (FWBK) will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Friday, October 2, 2026, with a landmark anniversary soirée at Brooklyn Borough Hall, bringing together designers, artists, models, cultural leaders, media, industry professionals, community partners and supporters for an evening honoring two decades of independent fashion and creative expression rooted in Brooklyn.
Founded by Rick Davy in 2006, Fashion Week Brooklyn began with a vision of creating a fashion platform that reflected the borough’s distinct creative identity and that served the needs of emerging fashion creatives who did not have massive budgets. But additionally, says long time publicist and CEO at Zebra Public Relations, Kojenwa Moitt, “Rick has forever been a visionary ahead of the current trends, having introduced eco friendly fabrics to the main stage, fostered sustainability as a concept and even delivered runway presentations through AI, CGI and tech platforms, long before they were the soupe du jour.” Twenty years later, FWBK continues to connect emerging and established creatives with audiences through fashion, art, culture and community. Brooklyn is synonymous with culture and its inflection point are the number of knighted artists who have shaped how we see the world as we bear witness to the rise from struggle, notable though the lens of Lil Kim, Notorious BIG, Run DMC and Jay Z
The anniversary celebration, themed “Bridging the Past, Present & Future,” will explore the intersection of Culture × Nature × Technology and the ways these forces continue to influence fashion and creative expression.
More than a celebration of an anniversary, the October 2 soirée will recognize the designers, artists, models, collaborators, supporters and community members whose contributions have helped shape the Fashion Week Brooklyn story.
“Twenty years ago, people questioned whether fashion would come to Brooklyn,” says Rick Davy, Founder of Fashion Week Brooklyn and BK Style Foundation. “We believed Brooklyn had a voice that deserved to be heard. Twenty years later, we’re still here. The question now is not whether Brooklyn belongs in fashion. The question is what we build next.” Arguably, the most prolific fashion producer in New York, @FWBK – an acronym so prolific in Instagram’s universe, that it has helped to bring talent like has served to bridge international gaps as quoted by Eugenie Shin for the Tokyo Weekender in a story she penned called Fashion Week Brooklyn: From New York to Tokyo framing FWBK as an international bridge between Brooklyn and Japan.

A BROOKLYN HOME FOR FASHION
FWBK’s inaugural presentation took place in DUMBO on May 6, 2006. Since then, the platform has evolved alongside Brooklyn’s rapidly changing creative landscape, creating opportunities for designers and creatives working across fashion, art, music, entrepreneurship and cultural expression.
The organization’s return to Brooklyn Borough Hall for its 20th anniversary offers a fitting setting for the milestone: a civic space where Brooklyn’s creative community can come together to celebrate its past while looking toward its future.
LOOKING AHEAD
The 20th anniversary arrives at a moment of significant change across the fashion and creative industries. Technology, sustainability, digital culture and evolving ideas around identity and community continue to reshape how fashion is created, experienced and shared.
For FWBK, the anniversary represents an opportunity not only to reflect on its journey, but to consider what the next chapter of independent fashion can look like. An early preview sees an opportunity to also represent markets in Queens and the vast communities of Brooklyn such as Dumbo and beyond paving the way for reparations with Target
