URGENT: Japan’s economy shrinks annualized real 1.2% in July-September

Japan’s economy shrank at an annualized real rate of 1.2 percent in the July-September period, marking the first contraction in four quarters, government data showed Tuesday. Real gross domestic product, or the total value of goods and services produced in a country adjusted for inflation, fell 0.3 percent from the previous quarter, according to the preliminary data released by the Cabinet Office.
