News apps have become very popular as they allow their readers to choose which topics they are most interested in and they can be read when you have the time. Browsing and reading have become easier as news apps actually organize trending news in such a way that you don’t need to buy actual magazines and newspapers anymore, nor do you have to search through your favorite publisher’s sites for items that interest you.

SnartNews was founded in Japan in 2012 and instantly became successful. It expanded to the U.S. in 2014 and has already garnered 10 million active users in the two countries, helping keep them up-to-date on all the trending news.

Besides offering new headline stories from over 300 U.S. publishers, including Business Insider and CBS, they have entertainment news, including Entertainment Weekly and sports news sites for all sporting news to help keep up with your favorite teams. You can receive news report notifications or just click on individual stories to read as you browse.

The app is available for both Android and iOS devices and includes all the popular categories like Top News, Politics, Sports, Money & Markets and Tech. Also included are various publisher hubs like National Geographic and Vox.

The interface of the app is user friendly and intuitive, which helps the user to swipe and browse through without effort. The app includes a social channel which allows you to connect your Twitter account and you will be able to see the popular stories of your topic choices on your timeline. According to your own preferences you can add or remove channels, saving yourself precious time as you will only see news items from your preferred channels.

The ‘Smart’ option allows you to keep up with news wherever you are and the articles are loaded instantly. This is the major advantage of this app since articles can be read even when your device is offline. Since Smartnews aggregates stories across the all the publishers in each category channel, the offer a diverse variety of sources and voices.

The app has default settings of times when it receives scheduled news reports. These are set daily for early morning at 7:00, Midday at 12:00, early evening at 18:00 and night time at 22:00. These are not compulsory and can be changed or turned completely off, but you will never miss out on another important story if you so wish.
