‘Redmi by Xiaomi’ Spotted on TENAA Ahead of January 10 Launch, Tipping Design and Specifications

Mobile giant, Xiaomi, during this week announced its separation with the Redmi series as a sub-brand. Redmi confirmed launching a new product- the Redmi smartphone in China on January 10, which will come equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor. The Redmi phone was also spotted on the TENAA certification site, which revealed specifications and design details regarding the product launch. The phone was listed with three model numbers namely M1901F7C, M1901F7T, and M1901F7E. It comes with a 6.3-inch waterdrop notch, a gradient back panel design, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The TENAA listing suggested that the model numbers M1901F7CM1901F7T and M1901F7E will be equipped with a 6.3-inch display and a waterdrop-shaped notch. The image which has been attached to the listing revealed that a dual rear camera setup has also been aligned vertically, along with a rear fingerprint scanner, and a pink and purple gradient back panel.

The highlight of the phone is the branding seen on the rear panel, which reads- ‘Redmi by Xiaomi’. The listings also suggested that the dimensions will be 159.21×75.21×8.1mm, and it will have a 4000mAh battery.

The TENAA listing denied previous reports which also suggested that the phone might come with a display hole for the selfie camera design. Some of the old reports also suggested that it might be known as the Redmi Pro 2, and might be powered by the Snapdragon 675 SoC. But the recent reports point towards the phone being known as the Redmi 7.

The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun confirmed that the Redmi sub-brand would focus only on the ultimate price/performance ratio for now and would also be e-commerce friendly but the Mi-series will focus more on mid to high-end segments as well as on new retail. It can be easily expected that this new Redmi phone will be heavily priced and will be available online exclusively.
