LG’s New Phone G8 Launch Reportedly Scheduled for February 24

LG might soon launch its flagship smartphone, the LG G8. Just before the date, a report suggests that the LG phone will be exactly launched on February 24 at 10 am. In the report, it is also mentioned a few specifications and features of the smartphone it will have a Snapdragon 855 SoC, a triple rear camera setup, 3D photography capabilities, and a waterdrop-shaped display notch. Prior to this, a rumor also claimed that LG will launch their other smartphone with a secondary, add-on display during the MWC 2019, but the most recent report didn’t give any further information regarding the same.

Last week, ETNews reported that the LG G8 will launch on Feb 10th at 10 am. But Google Translate indicated that nothing regarding the South Korean giant’s smartphone launching time is clear (whether the 10 am slot is South Korean time or Barcelona time, which is the place where the MWC will be held). If the phone is launched according to South Korean time, it will be launched at 6:30 am IST and it will be launched at 2.30 pm IST if Barcelona time is followed. In 2019, MWC 2019 has been scheduled to begin on February 25 and it will go on till February 28. During the February 24 launch, LG will reportedly unveil the LG G8 just after MWC, and this is not unusual since most of the major smartphone manufacturers hold pre-MWC events with the aim of showcasing their latest offerings.

As mentioned, the ETNews claimed that the LG G8 would be launched with a triple rear camera setup, and the three lenses will offer a 3D shooting setup. The report also claimed that the LG G8 will have a water drop-shaped display notch, which is something many smartphone manufacturers have adopted in recent times, and it will be powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC which will also be used by Samsung, Sony, as well as Xiaomi on their much-anticipated respective phones namely- Galaxy S10, Xperia XZ4, and Mi 9 flagships.

At this point in time, only Samsung has confirmed their launch date for their next generation Galaxy S-Series flagship – which would be launched on February 20. If reports from ETNews are to be believed, it looks like LG has moved their launch ahead of its flagship G-Series smartphone this year. The ETNews report also suggested that a report by South Korean publication Naver, claimed that the LG G8 would be launched at MWC 2019. Naver also reported that the foldable smartphone by LG will also be launched in the same time frame, and it will also feature an add-on display.
